Many Avon Maitland secondary school students today experienced difficulties logging onto the new provincial online network used to administer the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT).
Although no problems were experienced with regards to AMDSB server capacity or bandwidth, the Education Quality and Accountability Office has acknowledged province-wide technical difficulties during the test of the new system to administer the test online. Reports on social media confirmed that many school boards across the province have also experienced problems.
As a result, we decided (@ 10:45 AM EST) to withdraw from the online trial of the OSSLT.
Students will have the opportunity to write the test on its usual date in March.
We thank students, parents, guardians, teachers, administrators and staff members across the school district for their efforts and understanding during this test of the new OSSLT online network.
