Kindergarten will establish a strong foundation in the early years, giving Ontario four and five year old’s a stronger start on their learning. It will help improve their reading, writing and math skills, provide a smoother transition to Grade 1, and help increase their success in school and beyond.
Full-day everyday learning will give our students the tools they need to succeed and help build a stronger Ontario for us all.

Dr. Charles E. Pascal was appointed by Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty to be his special adviser on early learning in November 2007. Dr. Pascal was asked to recommend the best way to implement full-day learning for four and five-year-olds.
On June 15, 2009, Dr. Pascal presented his report, “With Our Best Future in Mind: Implementing Early Learning in Ontario”. The report contains 20 recommendations on how to introduce full-day learning to Ontario students, how to improve education for children up to 12 and how to increase supports for young families.
