Schools will be participating and raising awareness in a variety of ways and we will highlight these on our Facebook and Twitter pages for you to enjoy.

What is Mental Health?
We all have Mental Health, just as we all have physical health and dental health. Mental health is one component of overall health.
The World Health Organization defines mental health as:
A state of well being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.
What is Mental Illness?
Public Health Agency of Canada defines Mental Illness as illnesses characterized by alterations in thinking, mood or behaviour associated with significant distress and impaired functioning.
It is helpful to think of mental health and mental illness as two separate but interconnected concepts, existing on a continuum.
