In 2016 our secondary schools came together to celebrate inclusion at the Learning Together Symposium held at the Stratford Rotary complex. It was a huge success and a great opportunity for our secondary students to come together and share ideas about inclusion.
We are excited to announce that we will be hosting the very first Elementary Student Symposium on November the 22nd at the Stratford Rotary Complex), and November the 24th at the Clinton Libro Hall.
The “Celebrating Diversity” student symposium will be a blend of presentations, student activities, school team conversations and opportunities for student voice on topics of kindness, diversity and inclusion. School teams will have time to collaborate on student driven initiatives that raise awareness and support inclusive education for their classrooms and school communities.
Our goals are to have students:
- Build awareness and empathy for others
- Reflect on existing acts of stewardship and why we do them
- Recognize their role in creating inclusive learning environments
- Use student voice to empower action
Set goals for making change
Students will have the opportunity to share their thoughts via video booth on ways to make their schools a more inclusive place to learn. We look forward to hosting this event for our elementary students and allowing them the opportunity to engage in thoughtful discussion.
