Each year, the University of Waterloo hosts the Canadian Team Mathematics competition and some of our schools send a team to Waterloo to compete.
In conjunction with this, Shane Restall (Teacher at Stratford Northwestern) and Crystal Gascho (Teaching and Learning Coordinator) wanted to spark some internal competition amongst schools within Avon Maitland and together hosted 6 of our Secondary Schools.
Each school sent 6 students and a teacher coach to participate in 3 events: an individual set of 10 questions, a team set of 20 questions, and then a series of relay questions.
The event this year was attended by:
- Central Huron SS
- St. Marys DCVI
- Listowel District SS
- South Huron DS
- Stratford Northwestern SS
The individual highest points were awarded to two students from St. Marys DCVI. The school to come away with the overall highest points was Stratford Northwestern who took the lead in the relay event.
This was the first year of the event and it was held at the University of Waterloo Stratford Campus.
